PANTHER PARTY SCHOOL GETS COMMENDATION
This 1977 Newspaper article covers the formal commendation awarded to the Oakland Community School. The California state legislature recognized the school for its incredible academic achievement, and for disproving “the myth of the uneducable child.” The resolution was presented to Huey P. Newton, Elaine Brown, and Ericka Huggins. The author notes Huey P. Newton’s connection to the school, as someone failed by the Oakland public school system.
